I had my ear bent at a party this weekend by a guy who had just installed Windows 7 Release Candidate on his PC. He enthused that it was the first time in a long while that he had actually enjoyed using Windows. It got me thinking…

So I tweeted yesterday and asked if anyone had tried installing Windows 7 on their Mac. To date, I’ve had no replies…

Perhaps I’m odd. I’m not a Mac-versus-PC kind of person. Instead, I’m a “both and…”

So, if anyone has tried to install Windows 7 RC on a Mac, let me know what your experience has been so far.

I just read on ZDNet that Microsoft has released Windows Vista SP2 (official RTM candidate). People are speculating that it will be available to end users via Automatic Update in early May, if not sooner. Techies are already finding ways to download it.

The question is, how long before Apple updates its Bootcamp drivers so those of us running Vista on our MacBook Pros or other Intel-based Macs can update our copies of Vista to SP2?

My take: I bet we’re looking at a 60–90 day wait before Apple completes its Mac-specific driver updates and runs the QA pass…

I have to admit, so far my experience running Bootcamp and Vista on my MacBook Pro has been flawless. Based on that, I’m looking forward to SP2’s promised performance improvements.
